1-2-3 Done Wine Cork Wreath

This wreath is a good example of turning trash into treasure.  Rather than tossing out your wine corks, save them for this project.

Tied with a red bow, this wreath is perfect for Christmas, but it can be displayed year round with seasonally appropriate ribbon or just plain.

If you don't drink wine, try calling a local restaurant and ask for their discarded corks.

Materials for Making a Wine Cork Wreath:
12-inch foam wreath
120 wine corks, plus or minus
Glue
Sheet Moss (optional)

Instructions for Making a Wine Cork Wreath:
Wine Cork Wreath Starting with the outer edge, glue the corks end-to-end, in a single row around the circumference of the wreath.

Continue adding corks until the entire wreath is covered.

Fill in the gaps between the corks with bits of moss.

Attach a bow and you're done!

Now, if I can only get my husband to give up some of his corks, I'll make this fun wreath. Hopefully, I can finish it in time to post on my blog before Christmas: http://www.WorthTheWhisk.com Keep up the good work!

Friends and I have saved corks for years and I cut them in half lengthwise and use on garden paths. I live in NYC and it's not always easy to find mulch for paths. Thanks for the wreath tip, I plan to make two this weekend.

I have always used my left over corks and glued them to small, framed bulletin boards (alternating directions every 2 corks). I better get busy. These will make great Christmas gifts for the wine drinkers on my list! Thanks for the great idea.......

i have been making them for years and giving them to family and friends. it is a great way to recycle the corks that most people throw away. i have bins of corks at the house that restaurants and country inns send me from all over the US. by the way, the moss idea is very good. i will start using that. jerry arndt

What a great way to re-use trash and I really like the look of it. Thanks for the tip on asking restaurants for their discarded corks too so there would be enough.

I think this is a great idea for a childs project as all you need to do is set up the corks and glue. I am going to make one with two of my grandsons, ages 9 and 4. Thank you and happy holidays. I truly enjoy your newsletter!

Splendid idea! My husband and I have been saving every wine cork of every bottle of wine we've had in our 30 years of marriage. Needless to say, the volume has become quite large. Using some to make a wreath or two will be be a good way to use some without tossing them!

Your wreath is nice, but my daughter in law, Kim, made a really nice one, using the corks in a vertical, rather than horizontal grouping. I will send you a photo of my brother's dart board, made out of corks. Have a good week end. Bev Thurner

Hi Allen, I love getting your e-mails. I am going to make the Wine Wreath because I have a whole bag of wine corks from California that a friend gave to us. Do you know of anyone who knows how to make a "wine glass holder" necklace that hangs around the neck and uses the corks also? I saw them in California when we out there.

This wreath is very clever & suitable for a wine drinker but I prefer greens, red berries & pine cones on mine.

Great idea and I love it. I am saving wine corks now for a cork board that will be put up on my wall to attach memos, appointment cards, etc. It is really going to be a neat project when I put all the wine corks in a picture frame for my wall. Keep up all the good tips that you share for us.
