Spring has officially sprung! And that means an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables that are at their peak freshness and flavor. And the best part about this is that not only do you get to enjoy the taste of these seasonal foods, you can also enjoy eating them outside in the same sunny weather that produced them.
In Season in Spring
One thing I love about spring is the long afternoons the season provides. But even with this extra daylight, I still tend to feel a little rushed to fit in everything I want to do in a day. So it's a special treat that so many of the vegetables and fruits in season can be eaten fresh from the garden or with minimal preparation. At the same time, fresh ingredients like morels and ramps are rare enough to add a gourmet-feel to any meal. It also doesn't hurt that seafood and specialty meats are fresh and available during this month, but they run out fast!
