In this episode of P. Allen Smith Gardens we’ll discuss taking care of what we have through conservation.  But it won’t be a lecture; we’ll show you how sharing the message of conservation can be exciting and fun.

The flowers of Superbells® Yellow Chiffon Calibrachoa are an amazing creamy yellow that blend well with cool palettes. They also work with warm colors. Yellow Chiffon has a trailing habit with healthy foliage and tons of small blooms. Superbells® in general attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Tina in Scottsdale Arizona sends an email requesting more information about mixing edibles with ornamental plants.  She is particularly interested in knowing how to fill spots left open after harvesting vegetables.

Pastry chef Tandra Watkins at Ashley’s in the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas shares her recipe for blackberry cobbler.

People and Places:

Tour des Trees – Tom Ordway takes a break from the TREE Funds’ annual Tour des Trees bike ride to discuss this event meant to promote tree conservation and planting.

EuroAmerican Propagators – Jerry Church, CEO of EuroAmerican Propagators, explains how their growing facilities use new technology to conserve water.  He also comments on gardening is a great way to reduce our carbon foot prints.

John Backert, Director of Horticulture at Churchill Downs gives us a private tour of the gardens at this Louisville Kentucky race track.  One of the workhorse plants on the grounds is the Double Knock Out® Rose.
