Glory Days Container Garden Diamond Frost Euphorbia Supertunia Royal Purple Superbena Large Lilac LavenderThis container combines three outstanding blooms – Diamond Frost® Euphorbia, Supertunia® Royal Velvet Petunia and Superbena® Large Lilac Blue Verbena.  It's a cool color combination for the sunny areas of your garden.

Ingredients:
(1) 16-inch diameter pot
(1) 4.5-inch Diamond Frost® Euphorbia
(2) 4.5-inch Supertunia® Royal Velvet Petunia
(2) 4.5-inch Superbena® Large Lilac Blue Verbena

Things to Consider:

  • A tall, upright container will best show off the mounding and cascading forms of these plants.

  • For healthy plants and abundant blooms add a slow-release fertilizer to the soil before planting your container and apply a liquid fertilizer every week.

Glory Days container

This really is a lovely planting! I will be trying it this weekend in a container on my front steps. It will compliment my hanging containers on a shepherd's hook in the front yard, which contain those lovely, large, purple and yellow pansies! I had thought I'd go with reds and pinks this year as usual, because it looks so striking against my stone house and dark green yews, but it seems I'm being led toward purples instead!

Please furnish photos of the plants used for this container project. Seeing the flowers and foliage of each plant will make it easier to shop for the plants, as well as imagine the results. The photo above seems to have only two plants, yet you list four. Thank you.

conserving moisture in containers

In addition to using potting soils that contain water-holding crystals, I also like to use some kind of shredded cypress or small pine bark mulch over the surface of the soil. It keeps the roots cooler and reduces weeding and watering. It also looks really nice and finished.
