Herb, Flower and Veggie Window Box

I like gardening projects that are fun, easy and successful.  This window box this is filled with a mix of herbs and flowers has all of those qualities.  Plus it is one of those double duty kind of ideas, meaning it serves as both a decorative addition to your home and a useful way to grow herbs at the same time.  This project was in my Living in the Garden Home book and received so many positive comments I thought it was time to feature it again.

There is nothing I like better than curl up on a comfy chair with one of your gardening books. I find them easy to read and just love the photos. I have tried to take your examples of garden beds and enhance my homes exterior environment. I think I did a pretty good job. My last seasons work is currently budding out and I am so pleased with my efforts. Thank you for helping me to understand the depths of design in a most simple language. Happy Gardening to you! Ory

You were showing something at the top of your screen and I lost it. Can't remember if it was Dolemite or what. I plan to order Earthboxes for the apartment and it will probably be organic although I have ordered heirloom seeds. Want things to be as sterile as possible because of my health, but I don't know what I'm doing. Y our comments are welcome. Thanks for all you do.

LOVE the idea of combining flowers, herbs, vegetables ...but my boxes get shade (east side am exposure..2-3 hrs)...what would be a good combination for that?

This looks like a lot of fun. It would be a good project for a garden club program.
