Picket Fence Screening AC UnitsConstruction Update
At the Garden Home Retreat we built a fence to screen the heat and air units.  It’s made from treated lumber and painted white to match the trim of the house. 

At my garden in the city I’ve created a mixed herbaceous border around the perimeter of the property to block out the noise and add privacy.

Crabapple ‘Narragansett’ is a tree for four seasons.  White blooms in spring, glossy, disease free foliage in summer, brilliant fall color and red fruits in winter.

Morning Glory ‘Milky Way’ is an annual vine that produces saucer-shaped white and purple blooms.

Silver Lace Vine is a perennial vine with tiny, lacy blossoms that appear in fall.

Pets in the Garden
A visit to a poultry show proves to be a great way to discover bantam chicken breeds.  These types of chickens are smaller than the standard breeds so they are perfect for raising in limited space.

Allen’s Collections
A stylish table setting is created from some unusual items.  Flower frogs make great seating card holders, antique engravings of landscape designs that are photocopied and laminated become unique placemats and a collection of glass bottles creates a beautiful centerpiece.
