Solo Herb Containers

A single herb planted in a classic terrace cotta pot is an easy and stylish accessory for decorating your garden home.  Stashed around the garden and clustered in groups, herb pots add charm and make even the newest landscapes look like they have been growing for years.

Here are some examples of how we use herb pots at the Garden Home Retreat.

Loved the ideas shown but would have liked to have the herbs used named.

Plants for Abundant Sunshine

by Kelli J. Jackowski on July 24, 2009 07:58
I have a wonderful area for planting beside my porch. Howver, it gets at least 8 hours of sun per day. What plants (perrenials especially) would grow good there? Also, would decorative cabbage plants do well there or do they need shade? Thanks!!

Lemon Eucalyptus Potpourrie

by Vivian Sutphin on July 23, 2009 07:33
I just read the instructions to make the above potpourrie and it luscious. What is the name of a Eucalyptus that has berries. I bought a small potted plant of eucalyptus this past Spring (have to keep it inside during the winter as I live in Zone6) and don't see any evidence of it is capable of producing berries. Can you help? I really like your website as well as your TV show but don't always catch the TV. I tried some of the new annuals Supertunia, Calibrachoia, etc. My Knockout Roses planted 1 yr ago are really "knockouts" . Thanks for sharing your expertise! Oh, what is the treatment for cedar rust on apple trees? Thanks, Vivian Sutphin

I have been doing this for years on my back deck. The added bonus to their beauty (for me at least) is that I am more likely to take care of and use herbs that are nearer to the kitchen.
