Thank you for all your sweet comments and emails. Lucky was a wonderful friend and will be missed by Chris, Jacob, Laura, and me. Angel is still in depression, but our daughter’s dog, Oreo, has been staying with us to keep her company. Thank you again for all of your kind words.

Allen, I cried for you when I read the news. I know some days it will hurt to even breathe when you think about him. But know this. If you go to his favorite spot, close your eyes and listen…very quietly and still…you will feel him brush against you, you will feel his eyes upon you and you will know he will always, always be at your side. All you have to do when you miss him is be still and wait. And eventually he will lead you to another soul who needs you. That is his immortality. That is his blessing to you for loving him.

My heart goes out to you and Angel for the loss of your beloved Lucky. Lucky was more than a pet and companion, he was part of the family. You have so many fond memories of the joy Lucky gave you with enjoyable hours of companionship and love. Please give Angel an extra long hug for me, because she loss her best friend too. I too am a jack owner – the trouble with dogs is that we have them in our lives for such a short time. I hope your pain becomes less with every day and every wonderful memory of Lucky.

When and if you’re ready to open your hearts to another jack, let me recommend Russell Refuge in Rhinebeck, New York. It’s a wonderful and caring organization and has many jacks waiting for forever homes.

I am so sorry about your loss. Our pets are family and without them something is just missing. When we lost our collie mix and deaf old english sheep the kids just felt so lost. Its one of the hardest times to go through.

Rainbow Bridge Poem….
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…..
