I love to see crocus come up through the snow. My dad passed away last year from cancer and on the one year anniversary of his passing my mom and I planted crocus bulbs at his grave. We also planted mini daffodils that I purchased from the American Cancer Society in hopes that one day there will be a cure.

I especially love tulips. They always remind me of my beautiful daughter. They are her favorite flower. I love the array of color that they add to my garden each spring.

My garden is a work in progress, like a painting...each fall I try to add a few new bulbs and learn from my mistakes...such as the bunnies like to eat the tulips and planting daffodils in a straight row doesn't look as good as planting in bunches, etc.
One of my favorites that I hope to get in the ground soon are Narcissus. I live in zone 5 and experience all four seasons and then some...(Chicago suburbia)! Thanks for the chance to win this!

Entry for Clouds of Pink Bulbs
I live in Southern Califonria so the awakening of spring starts with the warm earth and the smell of my garden beginning to burst with color. My favorite color is pink set against the many shapes and shades of green. I luv the pink of clematis and the deep pink of the vines close to the house but most of all I luv the color pink in the bulbs poking their heads through the ground and the anticipation of pink bulbs rising through the ground for then spring is surely here for me.

What I love most about Spring is the blooming jonquils. I know that the tulips, hycinths and crocus will be blooming soon. There are so many things to love about Spring but color after winter is the best.

Picking my favorite spring flower would be as impossible as picking a favorite child. Each variety brings vitality, color and fragrance to a world escaping from the grasp of winter. Spring in New Hampshire is short-lived. Sometimes it seems that we skip from winter to summer.......but......the grace notes provided by the flowers of spring never fail to fill me with a sense of awe.

I love the Darwin Impression tulips. For the past 3 years I have planted masses of them in various colors. I like the way they hold up in the wind. I am 80 years old and have been planting tulips all of my gardening life.. When they stat to diminish I dig them up and store for the summer and then replant them in October in our backyard orchard. I estimate I have at least 500 that bloom there each year.
I have watched your TV Program for many years and have read just about all of your books.

My favorites are grape hyacinth, from white to pink to purple in flows through the rock garden...they come first and welcome the other bulbs as they stick their green leaves up through the ground!
So dainty and yet so lovely!

My 1st view of a tulip left me mesmarized. I was walking up the path to my piano teachers house, she had red and yellow tulips planted along the walk. I was living w/my grandparents in OK. Being from SoCal I had never seen a tulip.
As an adult and living in SoCal, I tried my hand at these beautiful plants. Not a lot of luck! I potted them and sat them in a planter box to the front of the house. They did not grow tall but the flowers were as pretty as I had remembered.
Trying again years later we planted our bulb plants amongst all our other plants and wait like expectant parents for the tulip, hyc., dafs. to show their little arms. Camera time.
Some of our bulbs are in pots and we transfer them to the front porch to greet friends.
I love to have morning coffee, relax on the patio and view the tulips as they greet the morning sunshine.
I do believe I love the tulip soooo much because they remind me of my time with my grandparents. The tulip is vibrant yet ladylike soft as it sways w/the breeze.
Not having a specific tulip garden at this time, one would look lovely to the front of the property. What a show for passerbyers to behold.

Snowdrops have always been the harbinger of spring. But my heart's favorite are the precious muscari poking their little pointed purple heads up through their strappy leaves. Four years ago we left our home in the NW, with it's mature drifts of spring bulbs, to move to the upper south. Health difficulties have prevented me, up to now, from getting more than a large urn out front planted with Angelique tulips and, you guessed it(!), muscari!! Love to sit and feel blessed to enjoy the beauty and hope in another spring.

My favorite is hyacinths because they smell so wonderful I also love pink tulips with light blue full faced pansy. Red tulips are so cheerful in early spring and daffodils everywhere. Spring is my very favorite time of the year, in fact my house is always decorated like springtime year around.
