Best Strawberries I have ever eaten are the ones I grow in my terrace garden in my backyard. They are bright red and the sweetest ever. Have to fight the birds to get to them first!! But I usually win.

The best strawberries this side of heaven is from Eckerts Farm in Ill. It started with my Grandparents who took us kids there every spring to pick strawberries. So the tradition continues on as I take my children and grandchildren. What wonderful memories we make together as we go from row to row laughing and enjoying our time together picking these beautiful red berries. Not to mention how sweet and deliciously flavorful they are.

The best strawberries I have ever tasted grew wild on my grandparents farm in south central Michigan. They were very small, and it took a long time just to pick a quart, but it was worth the effort. They are much sweeter than the "tame" varieties, especially those hollow commercially grown things the stores try to pass off as strawberries. No matter where you live, if strawberries will grow there, that's where you will find the best strawberries.

Living in NE Tennessee, we were lucky enough to have the fabulous strawberries from Scott's Farms. They were readily available straight from the field and can't be beat. But you know, I really think the best strawberries any of us will ever remember will always be those connected with the sweetest memories.

Allen: I reside in California and the best strawberries that I have ever tasted come from Oxnard, California. Our beautiful weather and many days of sunshine produce the best tasting berries. We grow so many berries that if they were lined up berry to berry, they would cross the nation 149 times! In fact we grow 88% of the Nation's strawberries.
One day I look forward to visiting your farm and tasting your berries to compare. Keep up the good work! Love your show.

When we take our annual trip to Florida, it is must have to purchase some strawberries from Plant City, FL. Unlike other strawberries, they are pink from the outside skin to the core. Wish they would ship to all of Missouri.

Who's got the Best??? For me, the best strawberries I ever had were outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin at a u pick it farm in 1992. I went picking with my grandparents. They were big, sweet and juicy. We ate them as we picked them(shh, don't tell), then went home and made strawberry jam and strawberry pie. It was the last time I spent with my grandfather. He died the next year. I still have some of those berries in my freezer. No, I won't be eating them. When I see them in the freezer, it puts a smile on my face and brings me back to a special place and time that was filled with warmth, love and happiness.
I'm no longer in Wisconsin, but for what I've tasted since living in Georgia, the Florida berries are the winners. March and April are the best. They have a richly intense flavor and oh so sweet. No sugar needed. Just writing about them makes me want to get into the kitchen and make a shortcake loaded with berries and whip cream. Nothing short of heaven!!!

I think in Western North Carolina Mountains any farm here in Henderson County and especially McConnell's farms, absolutely superior. Also wild varieties in my back yard. I agree with Dolly Sarrio Faison, NC, they are shipped to my favorite grocery store, and the sweetest blueberries to be bought.

When I was a teenager growing up in Central Va my girlfriend and I decided to camp overnight in the Blue Ridge mountains near our hometown of Charlottesville, Va. Not thinking ahead we only packed food for dinner with no thought of a morning meal. As we hiked back to the parking area we were delighted to find a patch of wild strawberries growing alongside the path! The berries were small, juicy and warmed by the morning sun. Needless to say, we made a grand feast of the berries! Those were the best strawberries I have ever had, I have grown strawberries that came close in flavor carefully watching their ripening but the tiny wild sun-warmed berries take the cake!!! (or should I say shortcake??)

The best ones I've had are grown at Swanton Farm in Davenport, Ca. They are organic, and so sweet, they melt on your tongue. Only problem is, you have to eat them the day you buy them. However, that isn't really a problem as they get eaten immediately anyway!

The biggest and best strawberries are still grown in Herron, Michigan where my brothers and sisters and I picked each summer to earn money for school clothes, new bikes and BB guns.
The fields were endless (to a little kid) and profuse with large berries. You didn't have to travel too far down the row to fill up your 8 quart carrier, the tough part was lugging it to the berry shed to cash in...cha-ching!
Many different strawberry varieties are grown in this region which are picked ripe and trucked to southern Michigan to sell at the fruit markets.
Great strawberries, great fun, and great memories!

When I was about 5 years old, my mama let me clean the strawberries. I remember standing on a chair over the sink with the water running. My little fingers went to work and I pulled off all the stems. But I was also popping a few into my mouth. By the time I was done, there wasn't enough to have strawberry shortcake for our family of four. Boy, did I get a spanking! But those must have been the best strawberries I ever ate because I've always treasured that memory! That was 60 years ago and I still love strawberries. For various reasons, I've never had a strawberry garden until last year. This year's crop looks like it will be a big one. Trust me: I'll be eating as I pick and clean those lush red fruits!

My grandparents grew sweet, delicious Ogallalas in a large patch on their Missouri farm. I didn't enjoy picking the berries when I was a child, but I did love eating them. My grandmother often mashed and sweetened the juicy berries to serve over vanilla ice cream or shortcakes. Such a treat! Every spring she filled her freezer with a new supply of frozen Ogallalas so they could be relished all year long.
