Easy Apple Tart

Ingredients
- 2 frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 4 tbsp. brown sugar
- 5 medium sized apples, peeled, cored, sliced
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
Instructions
For the crust, I'm simply using 2 sheets of puffed pastry. It's easy to use and you can find it frozen in the grocery. Just let it thaw to room temperature and then place it on a cookie sheet. Now I am crimping the edges to create a border. Now that the pastry is ready, I'm finely chopping 1 cup of walnuts. To these I'll add 4 tablespoons of brown sugar and blend. I'll spread this evenly over the pastry.
Now I'll just prepare the apples. I'm using Granny Smith because it's such a great cooking apple and I happen to like the name. It only takes about 5 apples, peeled and cored and sliced into thin wedges.
For richer flavor, on the stove I've reduced 1 cup of apple cider to half that amount by letting it boil for about 10 minutes. I'll add the apples to this reduction along with 1/2 cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 a teaspoon each of nutmeg and allspice. I let the apples simmer for about 10 minutes and remove them from the heat while they are still firm.
Now I am arranging them in rows on the tart. I'll bake these at 350 degrees F for about 35 minutes. And you just won't believe how good they are.
