Ferry-MorseKohlrabi Grown from SeedsEarly White Gongylodes

Description

Easily grown for its white-fleshed swollen stem which resembles an above-ground turnip. Crisp, mild-flavored and tender bulbs are high in vitamin C. Cool weather vegetable. This packet will plant approximately a 48 foot row.

Planting Tips

Start indoors in a sunny location 6 weeks before ground can be worked. Or, sow directly in garden rows placing one seed every 3 inches. When plants are 3 inches tall, thin to 6 inches apart. For fall use, plant in midsummer. Harvest when bulbs are 2 to 2 1/2 inches across. Cook as you would turnips; a few tender leaves add flavor to steamed roots.
