Fennel Florence

Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum 'Zefa fino'

Ferry-Morse LineFennelFlorence

Description

Perennial Herb. The bulb-like structure at the base of the stalk has a pleasant anise-like aroma and flavor. Serve either boiled or raw. This packet will plant approximately a 125 foot row.

Planting Tips

Sow directly in garden as soon as ground can be worked. Place one seed every 3 inches and cover with soil. Thin plants to 9 inches apart when they are 2 inches tall. The stalks of fennel can be eaten like celery. Seeds and leaves may be harvested as a spice.

Suggestions

Fennel sings in the garden and it's great tasting. The texture of the foliage is splendid when planted with bold blooms like sunflowers and zinnias. Try the green zinnia 'Envy' with the foliage of fennel for a sophisticated monochromatic combination.
