Description
Annual. Strawflowers are the most brilliantly colored dried flowers, retaining their bright pink, red, orange, yellow and white coloring. Fully double flowers, up to 2 inches across, attract butterflies. Plants thrive in dry sites. Blooms summer to frost.
Planting Tips
Start seeds, 2 per pot or cell, indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. Do not cover seeds. Transplant to the garden 10 inches apart after the last frost. Before planting, enrich the soil with Lilly Miller Rose & Flower Food or compost. GROWING Water when the top 3-inch layer of soil is dry. Stake tall plants. DRYING Cut main stem when flowers are half open. Wrap a rubber band around small bundle of stems and hang heads down in a dark, airy place until dry. Cut individual flowers from stem and thread onto florists' wire to display.
