Broadcasting the Week of 10-12-09
In today’s episode of P. Allen Smith Gardens we will brush up on our history starting with a tour of a replica of Christopher Columbus’ ship Nina.  We’ll also travel to the Ozark Mountains and talk tree planting with Jerry Blankenship of Little Creek Nursery. We will follow the adventures of an English Botanist, with historian Dr. Trey Berry, whose journals inspired a book about the Arkansas Territory, and talk color with Claudia Vecchio of the Branson area Chamber of Commerce.  Learn about growing citrus trees and try a recipe for baked snapper stuffed with vegetables.

Color Corner: Proven Winners Blue Bird Nemesia
Bluebird is not a new Nemesia, but it is worth listing because it is still one of the best on the market. Although it can stand up to the heat better than some varieties, the quality that I rely on is its frost tolerance, so it is ideal for the early spring garden. Bluebird has snapdragon shaped, blue-purple flowers that mix beautifully with other cool season favorites such as violas, ornamental kale, and pansies.

Merilyn Tilley garden

Ms. Tilley's garden was the best I've seen so far, and there are a lot of wonderful gardens featured on the show. Very soothing and retorative to one's spirit, eyes and nervous system. Grateful for her generosity in sharing it. Wish I had some photos of the water falling on the rocks. But it was great viewing it on TV for a few moments. Love the show. Watch it every week.
