Description

(Heirloom) Hardy Annual. An All-America Selection because of its low height and spreading growth. delightfully fragrant flowers bloom all summer long. Thier deep purple color contrasts pleasingly with Alyssum, Carpet of Snow. Easy to grow.

Planting Tips

After all danger of frost, sow seeds in open ground well exposed. Cover with 1/8 inch soil. When plants are 2 inches tall, thin to allow for spreading. Ideal for edging flower beds, for shrub borders and filling in rock gardens. Also, good ground cover.

Suggestions

A mass planting of lavender alyssum is a joy to see. I like to start the seeds in the greenhouse early so I can combine the plants with my late tulips. The regal tulip blooms emerging from the froth of alyssum blooms is a stunning sight.
