Watermelon Raspberry Lemonade

Watermelon Raspberry LemonadeAs a southerner, I'm certainly familiar with iced tea and lemonade and all the possible permutations you could come up with. But I have to say this idea of raspberry-watermelon lemonade, well, that was a new twist. Chef Chris Green from the Viking Cooking School in Memphis gave me this recipe that's sure to add sparkle to any summer day.

Ingredients

6 cups watermelon, cubed and seeded
1/4 cup raspberries
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 cup club soda

Instructions

Place the watermelon and raspberries in a blender; cover and blend until smooth.

Strain through fine mesh strainer into pitcher.

Stir together the sugar and lemon juice until the sugar dissolves; add to strained liquid; refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.

When ready to serve, add the club soda and pour over ice cubes.

WATERMELON-RASPBERRY LEMONADE

I VERY MUCH LOOKED FORWARD TO MAKING YOUR RECEIPE FOR THE LEMONADE, AFTER MAKING YOUR RECIPE FOR GRILLED CATFISH WITH LEMON AND HERBS, WHICH BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED. HOWEVER, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE LEMONADE. I FOLLOWED THE RECIPE EXACTLY, AND FOUND THAT WHILE THE TASTE WAS OK, THE RECIPE NEEDED ALOT! OF TWEEKING. IT DIDN'T TASTE AT ALL LIKE LEMONADE, WAS NOT SWEET ENOUGH, NEEDED A TOUCH OF SALT TO BRING OUT ALL THE FLAVORS, AND THE TASTE OF THE RASPBERRRIES GOT LOST. AFTER ALOT OF TWEEKING, I LIKED IT ALOT, AND MY HUSBAND AGREED, EVEN SAID THAT IT WOULD MAKE A GOOD DACQUERI(I KNOW THAT ISN'T SPELLED RIGHT, SORRY)

I made this yesterday just in time for the golfers to come in from the 100-degree heat. They pulled the vodka from the freezer and fell on the lemonade. Needless to say it was a HUGE hit. I used strawberries because that was what I had on hand. The resulting flavor was sweet enough to forego any sugar. Loved by all and everyone wanted a copy of the recipe!
