The Royal Oak Foundation

A light rain doesn't dampen my enthusiasm
for strolling through an English garden.

The beautiful gardens of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland remain a continued source of inspiration and pleasure for me. From glorious and colorful herbaceous borders to spectacular examples of conifers and sweeping lawns dotted with ancient sculptures, English gardens are everyone's passion. I invite you to explore these gardens yourself as a member of The Royal Oak Foundation, the U.S. membership affiliate of the National Trust of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It is an honor for me to serve on Royal Oak's Board of Directors and support their important work in maintaining and restoring England's gardens and landscapes as National Treasures.

With a Royal Oak Foundation annual membership you receive FREE ADMISSION to over 300 of the most spectacular gardens and historic houses in Britain. Royal Oak members are also offered free entry into 106 sites owned by the National Trust for Scotland. Mention my name when you join and you will receive an extra three months on your annual membership!

My personal favorite National Trust sites include Sissinghurst Castle Garden with its enchanting all white garden, Hidcote Manor Garden, an Arts and Crafts delight; Beatrix Potter's Hilltop and Stourhead with incredible lake views from 18th century pavilions and garden temples, as well as Winston Churchill's Chartwell whose personal gardens inspired his paintings and writings.

Members also receive the quarterly Royal Oak newsletter and are invited to attend lectures in cities throughout the U.S. featuring British and American experts speaking on topics ranging from English gardens and landscapes, to history, architecture, historic interiors and design.
