Homemade Vanilla Extract
Ingredients
2 – 3 vanilla beans
1 cup alcohol 80 proof (40 percent)

Instructions
Split the beans lengthwise and place in a sterile, glass jar with a lid.
Fill with 1 cup alcohol.
Screw the lid on the jar, give it a good shake and place in a cool, dark spot.
Give the bottle a shake every 5 days or so and in 8 weeks it will be ready to use.
When the jar is about 3/4 full you can top it off with more alcohol to restore your supply.
Keep adding beans as you see fit, just remove the older pods to free up space.
