Flea Market Shopping Tips
Are you interested in finding out how I get the best prices on antiques? I've got a few pointers to help you out.
When you're buying vintage or antiques pieces, there are a few rules you can follow to get the best deal. First and foremost, never pay full price for anything- you can almost always get a deal if you just ask. The second thing is to never act like you really love something. If you really can't live without it, don't draw attention to it- you're never going to get a good price that way! And finally, if the piece you want is already marked down 50%, that's a deal! Don't ask for more of a discount, you're already getting a bargain.
Most antique dealers are used to haggling, so it's not going to be anything that they're unaccustomed to hearing if you come in and ask for a better price on something. If you're going to ask, though, avoid statements like "I've got to have a better price!" and choose something like, "Is there any flexibility in the price of this piece?" The nicer you are to them, the nicer they'll be to you.
The main thing is to come in with an open mind, look around at things, just have a little fun and get into it. And remember, it never hurts to ask!
