Marge Moves In
A family of three has moved into my garden. Early last summer a small, gray cat showed up just in time to deliver two kittens and over night I became host to a trio of felines - Marge, Mr. Peabody, and Puff.
Now I'm no stranger to living in the company of animals. Much of my childhood was spent on a farm. But that was some time ago. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to share a home with a cat. What a show these three put on dashing about the garden! Just the other day Mr. Peabody performed a daring back handspring while in pursuit of a butterfly. I'm happy to say that the butterfly escaped without ever taking notice of Mr. Peabody's efforts.
It is interesting how animals often find you. I hadn't considered getting a cat, much less three, but now that they have arrived, having them around seems like the most natural thing in the world. Of course we've already made a trip to the vet so that I won't have four more cats next spring.
Yes, life is decidedly more rambunctious in my garden these days, but the way I look at it, my new tenants easily pay their rent in laughter and the removal of the occasional mouse!
