Growing Blueberries in Containers

I love blueberries in just about anyway you can serve them. In muffins, ice cream, jam, jellies, whatever! And I love to grow them. What I'm doing here is I'm actually growing some in containers. As a matter of fact right behind me is a container I planted last year. I put four plants in there and it is loaded with blueberries.

Now one of the things you need to know about growing blueberries is that they really like acidic soil like azaleas and rhododendrons. You don't want to plant them if you have alkaline soil unless you put them in a container or raised bed where you can really make sure that the soil is acidic.

The other thing that you want to do is realize that blueberries ripen over the course of about two to five weeks. I like to wait from them to ripen fully on the plant before I pick them. That ensures the best flavor and secondly you want to ensure that when you pick them put them in a shallow bowl because when they are dead ripe and the most delicious they are very susceptible to being crushed so just a few in the bottom of a bowl is the best way to pick them.

Now if you grow them in a container you'll find that they make a beautiful landscape plant both in the fall and in the winter. You want to make sure that you are feeding them regularly with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer and use a soil that is designed for container planting and growing.

You used American Indian Prints in a small space; I would like to know the site where the prints were found. I think the prints was of a chief wearing red garments or red headdress.
