My friend and interior designer Lindsey Coral Harper was here for the weekend. She shared a few really good tips with me on how to freshen up the decor in the front parlor.

Lindsey's Tips for Freshening up a Room

• Slipcovers are a wonderful way to change up a room. It's a great way to go from a fall/winter to spring/summer look.
• Slipcovers are ideal for rooms where there is a lot of activity, people and pets such as family rooms.
• When working with color don't get too matchy-matchy. Find the darkest or deepest hue in the room and play that up. Use just a bit to add a pop of color.
• Think about the big picture. To keep from getting overwhelmed start with the basics and use color as your common thread.
